Saturday with Riley

Chad, Stacy and Riley came out to visit this past Saturday. I think we have been trying to get together for some time, however something always would come up. I was glad they were able to make it, allowing Baron and Riley to have some play time together. Maybe not play time yet, but possibly some bullying. Baron is at that stage where he likes to pull hair, steal Binky's, tackle, pinch and that's just naming a few. I think that we need to turn off the UFC, he 's getting too close to mastering the rear naked choke hold.

Ravioli Mouth

This was our first attempt to get Baron to eat some Ravioli and Spaghetti O's. We didn't have to do much convincing, not that we really ever have to with food.
What a mess...I guess that I am going to have to get used to that. Just erks me when he gets sooo messy. I would love to cover him with saran wrap first and then he can dig in. I noticed later as we were getting ready to give him his bath that there was sauce in his ear. Missed that one.

Bath Night

I love these naked posts. Rob won't let me do many of them because he doesn't want Baron's jewels shown to everyone but I keep telling him that I wouldn't let that happen. Once he saw this one, he knew we had to post it. It's almost identical to the one that Kristi/Phil posted of their daughter Charli except Baron waited to pee until he was in the water.
Baron loves bath night. Once I open his door, I don't think that his hands and legs can keep up with excitement. He crawls so fast into the bathroom, stands at the tub and if we don't come and put him in right away, he starts yelling for us.
Oh and he loves bubbles, especially when I put them on my face. Me...not so much.

Baby Corral

Peek - a - Boo

Although it's not the first time he's done this, it is however the first time that he has reacted with an action to what I was saying. I was quite proud the first time that he did it. My little boy playing peek-a-boo with me, I couldn't have been happier. Now it's pretty funny when I will be doing something and not paying attention to him, he will pull something up around his eyes and just wait for me to respond. Sometimes I wonder how long he has held it there.

Playin' in my PNP (Pack & Play)

Usually when Baron takes an afternoon nap, at least in the old days, we would put him in a bed with pillows surrounding him and he would sleep a good 3-3.5 hrs. That was great for Rob and I because it allowed for us to get so much work done. It all changed when he started crawling and was able to move around, so now he sleeps where he should, in his crib. The bad part about that is he only sleeps a good 1.5-2 hrs and Rob and I still need some time to get things done.

Solution? We put him in his PNP and he plays until we're ready or when he's really had enough. It's nice because we know that he's safe and don't have to keep that ever so watchful eye on him.

When we go to get him, we always sneak up to see what he's doing. Case in point, the video...

Riley's First Birthday

I know, so cliche, I can't believe that Riley is already 1 year old. Boy does time fly by and with thinking about her birthday I can help but think my little one will be turning one soon. The transformation is really quite something when you remember back when they were so fragile to crawling/walking around the room saying da da/ma ma.
Stacy and Chad did a nice job putting the party together. Riley seemed to really enjoy opening her gifts but nothing compared to her diving into her cake. Especially when she figured out that she wasn't going to either get it taken away or in trouble for getting so messy. It was very entertaining to watch to say the least. Job well done.

Home for the Weekend

Rob and I traveled home this weekend for a very special occasion. Riley turned 1 on the 7th and she was having her very first birthday party. I will post on that next.
It was nice to be home, relaxing at my parents house and able to let the kids play. It's really amazing how much both of them have improved since the last time we were all together.
Dad and Chad played with the guitars while the rest of us watched the two babies. Baron has now acquired a fascination with balloons, however, when I popped one, he wasn't too fond of that.

Kisses for Reinhardt

We need to tell Baron he should keep his mouth shut. Every time Reinhardt gives him a sniff, possibly to see what leftover food he can collect, Baron opens wide. Guess it's a baby thing...or possibly he has seen it from Rob.

James Family Christmas

This year we traveled to Rob's parents house and when I say traveled, we just walked next door. As I said in the previous post that we are blessed to be able to stay home Christmas morning, we are even more blessed that his parents live next door.
This is the first Christmas for them with a grandchild and his parents were ecstatic. I think his dad was more excited for Baron to open his gift than anything. After we ate, we all went into the living room and Baron got to see his present. We couldn't keep him off of it. Honestly, I think that he was more interested in the big box than the actual toy. But now that we have it home and it's all put together, he really likes it.
It's such a joy to see his parents reactions when Baron is around. Their excitement and joy when he walks into the room is priceless. We love them very much and are so happy to be able to add Baron to the James family.

My First Christmas

Our first Christmas with Baron was really good. Although he was still sick, we cannot complain. Rob and I have been blessed with being able to always spend Christmas morning at home and this year was even better with Baron. He wasn't really into the opening of the presents but he definitely liked the new toys to play with. I know that next year will be even better.

Standing up and Crawling up

Although he has been doing this for awhile I wanted to share. He literally started pulling himself up a couple of days after he started crawling. At first he had some issues with moving his feet into place but now he has that mastered. Now he's starting to cruise and hold on with just one hand, which makes his father very nervous. Rob has revised his expectations of Baron and he's hoping that he will be walking by 10 mo's. That's Rob for ya...

Although we have plenty of stairs in our house we have yet to let Baron crawl near them for fear that is all he will want to do. For example, Amy's house has steps leading up to her kitchen and she said that he crawled right up them and kept wanting to do it. I think we will still keep him away for now.
