Ballwin Days

This was our first time heading to Ballwin Day's with Baron and we had a blast. Our plan was to go around 8pm walk around, see if there were any rides he could ride, check out the cute baby contest we entered him in and then see the fireworks. We got there a little late so we just walked around and eventually found a good spot to watch the fireworks at 9.30pm. Since Baron's bedtime is at 8.30pm I was a little unsure on how he was going to take being up much later but he really did good. The fireworks scared him a little bit at first but after that, he just sat in amazement and kept saying "oooo" and pointing. Overall, I was a great family outing.

The next day we headed back to Ballwin Days to check out their kids corner. Since we went so late the night before we missed it and wanted to come back to check it out. Of course we went at high noon when it felt 100 degrees out and had to park a mile away, once in the park we headed straight for the kids corner. They had been promoting some kind of sprinkler for the kids and also many activities that kids of all ages can enjoy. Well, as we rounded the corner, the sprinklers were out of order and the kids corner consisted of a table with coloring books on it. I don't know what happened but we weren't too happy. The best thing that came about of the situation were the pony rides on the other side of the pond. I was very nervous at first when Rob said he wanted to see Baron sit on the horse and was literally freaking out when he wanted him to ride it. It all turned out well and Baron got to ride his first horse. Yippee!

Sprinkler Fun!

I saw this sprinkler awhile ago at the store and have always been thinking about getting it. I didn't know how Baron would react to it since that would mean water would be in his face often. I think he liked it but still wasn't a big fan of the water in the face but he got over it. He's a big fan of running up to it, screaming, and then running away. Mud puddles are also starting to be a real influence too. Once he sees one, he's in it with his feet, stomping away.

Playtime with Dad

OK, so this video is VERY long. I think a little over 4 minutes and I really tried to shorten it but I couldn't. There was too much good stuff in there. So hopefully you'll have the time to watch it.

Again, I was down in the office working and I start hearing all these laughs coming from the monitor. Not being one to be outside the fun, I grabbed the camera and headed upstairs to film and this is what I got.

Just to explain a few things here are Baron's tricks. I know he's not a monkey but every kid learns a few tricks while growing up. Nothing special just things we get a kick out of...for now.

1. Kisses. We couldn't get the darn kid to give us a kiss so now he just leans his head in. Love it!

2. Earmuffs. This was Rob's teaching. He puts his hands over his ears so he can't hear you.

3. I'm a winner. This is something new, usually done while were walking though a store to entertain him.

4. Not Listening. He puts his two pointer fingers in his ears, usually during mealtime. I'm a little tired of this one, especially trying to clean all the goo out of the ears at the end of the day.

5. Ahhhh. Kind of hard to explain but Rob taught him what to do after a good discus throw. It's the release and the "ahhhhhhh" that follows it.

One lil Monkey Jumpin' on the Bed...

Just to give some background here, since Rob and I work from home, Baron plays in his crib after he wakes up from his nap. We have been doing this for awhile (thanks to Amy for the idea) and it works, plus it gives us those extra minutes to get things done. Anyway, since the office is downstairs, I have a monitor on to hear him. This day was like any other day, he took a nice morning nap and now it's time for crib play. I put the toys in the crib, clip a diaper rag around his neck (have to do this or his shirt will be soaked with drool) and close the door on the way out. Viola! As I'm working I start hearing this strange sound coming from his room. This creaking noise and I couldn't for the life of me figure it out. Since he wasn't crying I let it go on for a bit, but I was still curious. So I quickly, but quietly run upstairs and peer in...

Father's Day

This was the 2nd Father's Day for Rob and he still had the same feelings that I did. Father's Day is for my father, not me. I agreed. Being so new at this parenting thing, it's hard to switch those thoughts that you've had since you could remember, that you are not included on that holiday. I'm sure someday it will sink in, but for now we'll just focus on our parents.
That being said, I asked Rob what he wanted to do for Father's Day and he said that he would love to spend it with his wife and son, nothing special just hanging out as a family. Awe, so sweet. He suggested the baby pool for Baron. Perfect.

Georgia - Professional Pictures

This is the last of the Georgia posts. Nancy was nice enough to hire a professional photographer to come and take some family shots. We all dressed in our Sunday's Best and headed to a lookout on the mountain. Other than us looking straight at the sun and having to chase the two little ones around I think it went pretty well.
I was able to take some good shots but am looking forward to see what the photographer was able to get.

Georgia - Girls Night Out

Apparently it's a tradition to have a Girls Night Out when family is in town. I was a little skeptical since I knew that would mean that the guys would have to put the kids to bed. It was a first for both Chad and Rob while Cory was an old pro.
So all the girls (Grandma, Diane, Elaine, Nancy, Mandy, Stacy, Amy and myself) headed to the bar right down the street from Grandma's. As I was walking in, thinking this is going to be pretty low key and we would be home pretty quick, well...that was WRONG!
As we all bellied up to the bar and ordered our first round of drinks, the stories started flying...I don't think that I have laughed that hard in such a long time. I had a BLAST. From Amy asking, "Is there really different types of vodka?" to Grandma telling Stacy what got her "in the mood" to Diane, Nancy and Elaine trading stories growing up there wasn't a dry eye in the bar. After several shots (with Amy participating too!), I don't know how we got on the topic of feet. Soon we're all throwing our shoes off taking pictures and comparing toes. It was something to see. You could definitely tell we were all from the same family.
Good times were definitely had by all and from this day on, this event is absolutely in my top 10 of good times.
*Oh and just a side note, we decided that Elaine needed pig tails and Mandy and I followed. Somehow my picture was deleted. Darn... Grandma Shirley was a trooper and even though she had short hair, we still made it work.

As I said before we were in Clayton, GA for my Grandparents 60th Anniversary. Pretty amazing to be able to say that and also very proud. Each evening we went over to their house where Grandpa Jackson cooked some awesome meals for us, and during the day we went to see the sites.
I hadn't been to GA for some 10+ years and it was nice to re-connect with family as well as visit the surrounding attractions. I guess I never paid attention before but Clayton, GA is a beautiful town and area. Now I know why Grandma and Grandpa Struck settled and stayed there.
It was also nice to see my Mom and step-dad visiting from California. It had been a little over a year since we had last seen them and as always it's something that I personally look forward to and hopefully going forward, Baron will feel the same way.

This was the first waterfall we went to in GA and it was really cool. Not only was it easy access but also many places to stand near the falls to take pictures. While we were taking pictures, the kids were able to crawl around the small pools and have some fun. Baron slept through the whole thing, that kid was tired.

Georgia - 60th Anniversary

This year was my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary and we made the long drive to Clayton, GA to celebrate with them. We all rented a big house way up on the mountain and stayed there for the duration. It was amazing and the views were to die for. There are going to be several posts of the GA trip because as you know, I have taken a TON a pictures.

We went to Burton Beach on Burton Lake to let everybody swim. This was Baron's first time with sand and open water. He was at bit skeptical at first but once we got him in he absolutely loved it. He would want to walk in, then walk out and walk in and back out. You get the picture. I was curious with how he would do with the sand but it didn't really make an impression with him. I think he was more interested in the water.

Our New Addition to the Family

Photobucket

We had been looking for a new vehicle for awhile and finally narrowed down to what we both wanted. Now came the hard part...after leaving several locations in frustration from playing the game, on our last stop, it all came together.

We drove off the lot at 9.30pm with our new Chevy Traverse with hopes that it will be something reliable for many years and to carry with it, some good memories to come.
