Balloons

I know this isn’t the most exciting blog post but I thought the pictures were too cute not to post. At least in my opinion. They tried so hard…

Pool Time

Last weekend we went home for a whole slew of celebrations and were able to enjoy some pool time. This will have been Baron’s 2nd time in their pool but technically I will call it the first because the last time we were in and out so quick and the water was a tad too cold. This time, however, it was perfect. The whole way there he was saying water, water, water. He knew what was happening and the excitement in that kid was insane once we pulled in. It was lunch time, but there was no way I was going to be able to get him to sit down and eat all while watching the others frolic in the pool.

I put him in his suit with all the needed essentials and he was the happiest camper. He is very timid of the water and it will take several more times in the pool until he’s more comfortable but as the day progressed, I think he was getting more comfortable with it. Now, Riley on the other hand was a FISH. She was in that water almost the whole time and was so content on being on her own. You could tell that the time with Grandpa and Grandma for that week she stayed there did her a lot of good.

Oh, and Baron loves his "’straw juice” as the other kids call it. You can tell that he doesn’t get them at home. He will not just take a few drinks and be done with it, he makes sure he gets every last drop.

Toy Story 3

We took Baron to see his first movie Saturday. He did so good! He sat in his chair and watched the entire movie. Only a couple of times did we have to remind him to use his inside voice. Especially when he said in a loud voice, “ Mommy, Poo Poo Out”. We were oh so proud.

Rob and I kept looking at each other amazed that he was actually sitting and watching it. Wow, what a reminder that this lil guy is growing up.

Choo Choo

On Sunday, we took Baron to see the small train that operates in Glencoe, just 10 minutes from our house. I don’t know why we didn’t do this last year but this year we were pretty excited to take Baron to see it. He LOVES trains and it certainly did not disappoint. The train ride lasts about 30 minutes and takes you around the Meramec River and also along the Al Foster trail.

Baron had such a good time. Constantly yelling Choo Choo and jumping up in down in excitement. Once it started, he was so quiet. I love to just sit back and wonder what he’s thinking because now a days, it’s not too frequent when he’s quiet.

Baby Snake

Baron and I each morning, hop in the Gator and go get Don’s paper. As we pulled out, Rob yelled to stop and told us to take a look. Believe me, if it were a big snake I would have freaked but since it was just a lil baby I had to take some pictures. The poor thing was just scared and no, we did not kill it, we kindly swept it out of the garage in the grass to his freedom.

Baron wouldn’t go near it and I was surprised as he gets so interested in bugs but nope, he didn’t want to get close. That’s ok, at least he didn’t step on it.

The king of all playgrounds!

A couple of Monday’s ago, Rob took Baron to meet his friend Brian and daughter Avery at this playground in O’Fallon, MO. We had heard of it from Kristi and Phil and had always wanted to check it out. I didn’t go the first time, but we made another trip last week. WOW! This place is unbelievable. It’s huge and practically all fenced in and has that nice soft floor throughout. To me personally, the best part is the small splash area they have. It’s perfect. Again, the soft flooring but it’s great because it’s nice and contained and not too big. I really wish more parks had these because it’s really all you need for little ones like Baron.

Oh and if you see in video where the lady is sitting by the fence, Baron walks up and she points out a bug that he has already seen. He then proceeds to stomp on it. Too funny…

Bambi

On Monday, as Rob and I were heading to pick Baron up from summer camp, we see Rob’s dad Don riding up very fast on the mower. Both of us looked at each other wondering what was up because that usually means that something is wrong. He starts to tell us that he almost ran over a baby deer and that we should come and check it out. We hoped that it would still be there after we picked up Baron and would head that way as soon as we returned.

We rode the gator down with Baron on my lap and I was shocked at this little baby just hunkering down waiting for it’s mommy to come and get him. Oh, I so wanted to just pick it up and take it back to the house but…I left it be. Baron also had a hard time staying away and when it was time to go, the tears started flowing and the begging to see the baby deer continued throughout the day. I rode down around 8pm and it was still there. I was praying that it wouldn’t be there in the morning and thank goodness it wasn’t but it was there again this morning. What?!?! Is it time to bring the lil guy back to the house?

California Grandparents’ Visit – Part 5

Well, the end finally came. We were all together once again for one last big meal before everyone packed themselves up and headed home. It is always a nice distraction when family is around and those that were here were definitely missed. Baron was his usual crabby self without all of the kids giving him so much attention. I can’t even count the amount of times that he said, “where’s Candon”. Candon being the universal name for all of Amy’s kids and him pointing to the chair that Airplane Grandpa sat in saying, “pa pa’s chair”. It was so cute but also sad because he has no idea what’s going on. One minute they are here and then they’re gone. The best part of this whole trip what that Baron now knows who his California Grandparents are and even as I show him the previous posts of their visit, he tries his best to say Airplane Ama and Airplane Pa Pa.

California Grandparents Visit – Part 4

The day before they left, we wanted to take the  kids (minus Baron & Riley) to Sky Zone. This place is pretty neat with trampolines covering most of the area. I know that we had taken Brooklyn and Taylyn before but the boys had not been yet. I don’t think it was such a good idea that we ate right before but they seemed to do fine.

The pictures didn’t turn out too good, I obviously didn’t know what I was doing:(

California Grandparents’ Visit – Part 3

With the house full the majority of the nights and with all of our requests for our favorite meals from Mom, she was busy each night preparing the feast. I can’t say it enough, no matter what holiday or occasion, I absolutely love the house being packed with people and seeing the table overcrowded with food. Speaking of the food, boy was it good. Home cooked meals every night, we were all so spoiled. Even Baron was able to enjoy some of it surprisingly. He had his first ear of corn and although he wasn’t too fond of it at first, he eventually started on his 2nd piece shortly after that.

California Grandparents' Visit – Part 2

After the baseball tournament, everyone headed back to our house to start the second leg. Several days prior, Baron and I had spent several afternoons filling up water balloons. Actually, Baron just played in his pool while I filled up the balloons. I think the tube had 500 in it and I filled most of them. My fingers were a little sore but it was well worth it. Once everyone arrived, I had Rob place the buckets of balloons in the backyard and we all just went to town. Baron and Riley didn’t really know what was happening but they both enjoyed being able to just pick these things up and throw them down to watch them explode. Very entertaining…Our course it took me a few hours to fill them up, yet only minutes to go through them but it was so much fun.

After the balloon fight, we pulled out the slip-n-slides and the baby pool. Baron wasn’t really the biggest fan of the slip-n-slide due to the water spraying in his face as he went down. After that first run, we kinda had to force him to go again and try to keep it out of his face. Riley on the other hand didn’t have any issues. I think from seeing the older kids go down, she was all for it. Rob even gave it a go…thankfully I wasn’t filming then because it was not pretty.
