Valentine Party – Take One

Baron had his Valentine’s Party for his Tuesday/Thursday class this past Thursday. Everyone did such a good job putting it together. It’s so nice to be in the class and helping out. Plus seeing Baron interact with his classmates is priceless.

Baron loved his Valentine bag that he got to take home. This bag goes with us everywhere now and I don’t know how Monday’s class is going to top this bag that he created. You would think because it has candy in it that it was the reason it was so special, but it’s really all the decorating that he did on the outside of the bag that he likes the most. After the first day, the candy was dumped out and his favorite toys were being added.

Sledding, Snowmen, oh my!

Last weekend, Baron stayed with Grandma and Grandpa for two whole nights. He was also surprised that Taylyn was staying too. Mom and Dad had plans to take both of them to Passfield to sled. Passfield is a golf course in the summer and an awesome sledding spot in the winter. I even remember going as a kid.

Thankfully they took many video’s of the sledding a few pictures. Sorry the video is so long, it was very hard to whittle down.

Valentine Card Shoot

While picking up Baron from school on Tuesday, I was reminded of his Valentine’s party on Thursday. I had totally forgot and hadn’t done a thing. Since I’m new at this and not really knowing what to do, my sister thankfully stepped in and gave me some pointers. No don’t go with the 8 x 10 framed picture of Baron for all his classmates, instead go with something smaller and perhaps some candy. Glad she clarified that.

Baron was an awesome subject for the pictures. I got him up early from the nap and Rob was nice enough to help out. It’s amazing what one strawberry blow pop can get the kid to do. Too bad that doesn’t work on Rob ;)

I did it!

I can officially say that Baron is potty trained. It’s actually been over a month and a half since he’s had an accident but I have been slacking on posting it. I would have taken a video of him going on his own, but thought to save him the embarrassment later in life.

I was pretty surprised how easy it was to do it. My sister suggested getting pull ups and then having him pick out his own big boy underwear's  and he did really well at first but it wasn’t until Baron’s teacher at school said that he goes on his own while he’s there. I was shocked to say the least.

Awhile back, after his nap, he wanted to play all by himself in his room. At least that’s what he told me. So I went back down to the office to continue to get some work done all while listening to him play via the monitor. After several minutes of playing, I noticed it was quiet, very quiet. Until I heard the toilet flush. I sprinted up the stairs thinking he’s playing in the toilet or I’m going to have to fish something out of it but it was the opposite. As I reached the top of the stairs, he was walking out of the bathroom and asked him what he was doing. He simply replied, “I go potty, mommy”. Simple as that. Nothing made me more proud…other than the pee racing down the side of the wall, it’s a start. We can work on aim later:)

Snow Bored

Snowmageddon as what they were calling it. Umm yea right. I was pretty frustrated that this was a big miss on the weather mans part. Here they freak everyone out that there is going to be 1” of ice along with 15” of snow to follow. The stores were packed and it was chaos as the blizzard of 2011 was nearing. Yes, I will say that many to the west did get a TON of snow, of that which I am very jealous, but we hardly got anything! On the flip side, it was nice that we had Baron home a few days but you really can’t make a snowman out of sleet can you? That’s all that he wanted to do. Poor kid just didn’t understand.

So we played in the basement, made necklaces, colored, painted and had a mock school day with all of his cars lined up on the carpet. That was the cutest thing of all. He was Mr. Baron the teacher and the cars, lined in a semi circle, were his students. He would do all the same things as they do in class. They had circle time, and Jesus time. He even told the cars that they can’t get up until their name is called.

Play Date Time

Avalon is a classmate of Baron’s and Tanya (Avalon’s mom) and I had been talking about getting together for a play date. Baron is really into Avalon and talks about her often. When I go to pick him up from school, he and Avalon always walk out holding hands. It’s really cute.

Avalon and her brother James came over last Friday afternoon. I was curious to see how Baron would feel about sharing his toys but I think we talked enough about it that it wasn’t an issue. They did really well. I let them play in the basement for about an hour and then got out the bouncy house. They really seemed to like that. Baron of course was all sweaty and little James definitely got bounced around. All in all it was a really great play date. Baron now asks after every nap if Avalon is coming over to play. We will definitely have to do it again.
